Why Is My Baby Crying? – Understanding the Reasons and How to Soothe Them
Crying is your baby’s very first language. It’s how they tell you they are hungry, uncomfortable, tired, or simply need your comfort. While all babies cry, as a parent it can sometimes be hard to figure out why. The good news? Most of the time, crying is completely normal and can be soothed with a little understanding and care.
Hold and rock your baby gently.
Swaddle in a light cotton cloth.
Offer a pacifier (if your pediatrician recommends it).
Play soft music or white noise.
Give a warm bath.
Seek immediate medical help if your baby:
Cries continuously for more than 3 hours despite comfort measures.
Has a fever (above 100.4°F or 38°C in babies under 3 months).
Refuses feeds or vomits repeatedly.
Shows difficulty breathing.
Crying is your baby’s way of communicating. With time, you’ll learn to recognize the different cries and respond to your baby’s needs more easily. And remember — no parent gets it right 100% of the time. You’re learning together.
